A night in Parliament
This week RCS celebrated the launch of this years’ Parliamentary Review with a gala dinner at the Houses of Parliament. Within a beautiful setting overlooking the River Thames, various people from different sectors, businesses and backgrounds exchanged views on how politics is shaping their industry. An unimaginable evening where we explored the House of Commons, peered into the House of Lords, and took photos with statues we fictionalised the history behind. A night fuelled with politics, business, music, food and drink was capped with some interesting guest speakers including Rt Hon Sir Eric Pickles, Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP and Lord John Bird MBE. The Review reflects on the current state of all industries and a select few are invited to contribute.
RCS’ contribution highlighted their vast growth in recent years and the plans in place to maintain this. It showcases RCS’ contribution to industry-wide issues such as the shortage of skilled engineers, and the need to train from within. The current uncertainty surrounding Brexit is unavoidable, however RCS make clear that whether or not the validity of CE (European Conformity) marking diminishes post-Brexit, there will be a continued effort to conform to these legislations and beyond.
